covenant community

Being a follower of Jesus Christ means being a part of His body of followers, known as the church. Covenant Community is The Meeting Place's spiritual and practical means of living out commitment to spiritual formation, community and care, mission, accountability, giving, leadership, and decision-making.

Below are some FAQs about being part of the Covenant Community at The Meeting Place.

Why do you have the Covenant Community?

Being part of the Covenant Community isn't really about being 'a member' or having your name in a database. It's our way of saying "count me in on a great mission." As part of the Covenant Community we're not spectators; we get involved and learn to use our gifts, talents and abilities. We commit to learn how to sacrifice, give generously, and make a meaningful difference in our friendships, city, and world. In being part of the Covenant Community we affirm that we hold to similar values and beliefs. It ensures that we truly advance the cause of Jesus Christ in a unified way. As an active, inter-connected family, we promise to keep growing and striving to live by shared values in community and accountability.

What does the Bible say about covenant relationships in the church?

The very moment we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour the Bible teaches that we become members of the universal church, known as the Body of Christ. If you are a Christ-follower, you are already an eternal member {1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 2:13-22; 4:3-6}. The Bible also instructs that all Christians are to be deeply involved as serving participants in a local church community {Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:25-31; 1 Timothy 3:14-15}.
